End of Year- Teacher Scrapbook

I developed about 70 pictures of the year's events. I used an "art journal" from Stampin' Up, which had 98 pages. So, decorated the front, and began putting in pictures. The next picture I will add to this entry is to show a page after the kids do their "thank you" letter and thumbprint apple (taking their thumb in red ink and stamping it on their thank you note). I got this great idea from Bits of Ivory.

It turned out quite beautiful. And big!

The pages with kids' entries have a picture of the student opposite their thank you letter. It will be very cute and fun to finish tomorrow!

Football Cupcake-Cake

In the vein of my last post, I did a football cupcake-cake for our Superbowl party!

Layer 3 cupcakes, then 4 cupcakes, then 5, then 4, then 3.

Cover with chocolate frosting.

Use white frosting for the football stitching.

Use colored M&Ms in the team colors all around the football. (We used Reeces Pieces.)

Sadly, my husband's team didn't win, but this cupcake-cake did!

And with fall coming up, what a great and easy, mess free cake for a boy's football team party or dinner!

Easy Heart Pull apart Cake

Make cupcakes according to box directions. Except instead of oil add the same amount of applesauce! Makes for super moist cakes, cookies and cupcakes. Also, you can try coconut oil instead of vegetable oil. My family really likes the flavor it gives!

Arrange cooled cupcakes as shown.

My family LOVES yellow cake with chocolate frosting, but imagine how cute this would be with chocolate cakes and white frosting with pink or red writing!

I'm no cake decorator or professional. I'm just a momma with little time that tries to make things cute for my little family!
Take this idea and run with it!

Quick Kids' Birthday Cards

With a few scraps lying around, I made these quick kids' birthday cards--three of each pattern.

I keep coordinating pattern paper and stickers together in a large clear envelope. Makes it easy to pull out, grab some plain white cardstock for the actual card part (4.25" x 5.5" --cut 8.5" x 11" in half) and throw together a few quick cards.

These easy templates would work for any type of card!

Cards from Scraps

Do you have 3 scraps, some matching ribbon and ink? Then you can make this card in seconds. So easy! This has to be my favorite template for using scraps. (See the "Happiness" card above which also uses 3 scraps of paper and ribbon.)

A fun weekend was had as I completely rid myself of the pink, brown and turquoise paper I had lying around for years!

No Sew Denim Skirt!

I made two skirts from cut off jeans for my niece over Thanksgiving! Easy and so cute! These were actually boys cutoffs, but she won't mind now that they are her skirts!

Here's how:

Ingredients: scissors, fabric glue and cutoffs.

Directions: On one inner leg you cut above the seam and on the other inner leg you cut below the seam. You can see that the overlap was from the right side, so I cut below the seam so I'd have a finished edge on that right side (the left pant leg), through the crotch, and then cut on the right pant leg's inner thigh seam above the seam--that will the the finished side for the back!

Just lay the finished seam over the unfinished leg, smooth and glue.

It's wearable in 2 hours and washable in 3.

The best part of this, is that all these cards were made with leftovers:
1. Leftover paper and stickers from a Simply Scrappin' Kit (Stampin' Up!)
2. Leftover rub-ons (Stampin' Up!)

Also note that they are all similar in design. I used a simple template to make quite a few cards and getting out the ol' scraps made my day!!

I finished playing with the Flower Power Card Elements Kit from Stampin' Up! I made the 9 cards suggested, and with the extra paper, and some extras of my own, I added 5 more cards to the mix. That makes each card about $1 each!

Taxes

Yes, you heard me right...who does Taxes in August? Yeah, we do, cuz when tax time wheeled itself around in April we were right in the middle of IVF. That being the emotional and physical stress that it is, deserves to have 100% attention to get this baby made. So, we filed an extention.

So, we have til October to get the taxes done, but it is killing me not to get them completed. Here's why: in my weird mental game I tell my self that "oh look, I have free time, I can scrap." Then, the mean, logical left brain says, "no you can't, if you have free time, you should get your taxes done."

Crap. The Logical side wins, invariably, and then guess what? Because I don't want to do the taxes, I play on Facebook or blog and not get them done.

Well, being the self-flagellating person I am, I have now decided I can't scrap until I get my taxes done. And to minimize misery, my goal is that they get done THIS WEEK. Especially before dear hubby gets surgery next week!

So, here we go, people. Let's see if I can get them done, so I can play, and POST!

July's Club Make and Takes

This card is regular sized using Real Red CS, More Mustard CS, Always Artichoke Grosgrain Ribbon, large Metal Edge Tags, Markers, Pumpin Pie Classic Ink Pad, and Old Olive Eyelet and Crop-a-dile to set the eyelet. A little natural hemp and the stamp set "Time Well Spent" finished it off.

I love this 6 x 6 July 4th theme! Instead of the proverbial red, white and blue, I went with Kraft CS, Mustard Grosgrain ribbon and Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink. The star is chipboard, painted in Close to Cocoa Craft Ink, giving it a suede look. A 2" border of Boho West designer paper (in brown stars with a gold wrinkled look to it) is attatched at left. A little hemp brings the "celebrate summer' tag to life. And a photo in sepia keeps in all in sync! Journaling was done with a More Mustard marker.

Item #1: This card fits a #10 business envelope. It uses the blue background paper from the Boho Blend Simply Scrappin' Kit, Rub Ons and ribbon! The "thanks" in the corner is stamped in Real Red and uses the Sellabration Set, "Lots of Thoughts."

Here's the scrapbook page--it's a 12 x 12 page using the Boho Blend Simply Scrappin' Kit and rub-ons! I also used the new arrow punch to make the arrows. So cute! When I use a Simply Scrappin' Kit it is fun and easy because each scrapbook page is unique, depending on the stickers they choose with which to embellish their page!

The Christmas LEFTOVERS!

Here are the six 12 x 12 pages I made strictly from what was left over, but using Stampin' Up!'s Stitched Gingham Ribbon when I ran out of SEI ribbon:

Then, I made one regular sized card:

And after that I realized I had Stampin' Up! True Thyme notecards (3" x 3") that would work perfectly with the scraps. I made these, using the Stitched Gingham Ribbon as well as a few rhinestone brads in old olive from Stampin' Up! (Some snowflakes are iron-ons from SEI that came in December's kit.)

And here is my favorite card of all: The one my 5-year-old son made with me. He "decorated" (his word) the front, back and inside of the card. It was so fun to watch him cut the ribbon, use the glue dots himself and I gave him full reign of any scraps I had. So, you can imagine that I would have probably gotten a few more note cards made without his, but who cares--he was as proud as can be of his design.

Christmas in February

I love scrapping Christmas in February. The pictures are back from the holidays, the snow is still on the ground and it's cold and miserable. So I turn on the Christmas music and get festive--in February!

I took the mega kit I got from December's SEI Club and did all the layouts that were prescribed in the kit, plus a coaster album of 2007 and mini cards. Here they are:

With the coaster album I went through my pics for 2007 and picked some random ones that captured some of the newsworthy events of the year. It's very cute.

My next post will contain WHAT I DID WITH THE LEFTOVERS!

Mini Calendars

Thanks to my friend Heidi for starting this tradition of doing mini calendars each January, and brightening up my fridge! Here's the mini calendars I did for my stamp club the other night. They fit perfectly into the 3 1/2 by 5 inch clear desk frames or fridge magnet frames at Walmart. They are so easy, so simple and so cute to have a little scrappin' on your fridge.

Year In Review--SEI

Last night, in only a few hours, I put together the "Year in Review" Scrapbook In a Bag that SEI carries. IT IS AWESOME. The time it took INCLUDES printing the pictures off as well!

Bonus: I felt like I totally "caught up" as I was able to scrap 2007, each month and write up what we did that month. This is a brilliant concept from SEI.

Alas, no leftovers to make cards. :)

My Scissors Arrived Today

Yeah!! My free scissors arrived today from Fiskateers!! They are apparently incredible scissors, and they've got my fiskateer number engraved on them! It's taken a couple of months, but today was their big arrival. Thank you to my friend Barbara for letting me know about this incredible find. Leftovers from October SEI Kit!

The October SEI kit was fabulous! But after making the card kit and one of their 12 x 12 scrapbook page kits, I had loads of brads, buttons, stickers-a-plenty and paper leftover. Here's what I made. There's a LOT of cards here, people! Click on any image to enlarge and see detail!

This last one I really like...it is a tri-fold card. Here's a picture of it open:

I used the new Stampin' Up! 8 1/2 by 11 SOFT SKY cardstock as almost all of the card backs. The paisley background paper you can see in Soft Sky is Stampin' Up!'s designer series 12 x 12 paper in Soft Sky. Everything else is from the SEI kit, leftover! Thirteen extra cards! Awesome! All cards are normal size, except one card which is 3 x 6 inches (the 7th card).
